Muhurtham Stage Decoration — Tradition Meets Modern
By Sudhakar Arumugam · 12 March 2026
The muhurtham moment is the one photo every family keeps. Here's how we design muhurtham stages that honour tradition but photograph like a 2026 wedding.
Traditional elements that stay
Brass vessels. Mango leaves. Banana trunk pillars. Marigold strings. Kolam flooring. These are non-negotiable for most Chennai Tamil weddings.
Modern elements that lift the stage
Diffused warm uplight (not harsh ceiling light). Floral drops in muted palettes. Clean stage edges. Depth of field through layered backdrops. Draped florals framing the mandap.
What to avoid
Harsh white LED. Competing colour palettes. Over-decorated floor (photographer can't track couple movement). Flashing lights (ruin photos).
